Dear Editor:
This semester, my math professor required online homework, meaning each student had to pay a $100 in order to enroll and complete the coursework.

Dear Editor,
Dear editor,
The recent school shooting in Parkland FL. that led to 17 people being brutally murdered at school has led to yet another america-splitting gun debate. “Guns can be a fantastic hobby.” This line paints a crystal clear picture of why both sides of the argument will never see eye to eye on th…
The facts published in the Washington Examiner May 18 article, “California professor bans college Republicans from Women’s History Month events” are simply erroneous. Orange Coast College has no Republicans club “bans” and Professor Alabi did not ban any person or group from attending an ope…
Dear Editor,
The OCC (Coast Report) Editorial Board produced a good editorial on March 22, and then a bad one on April 5. The good one, titled “We don’t feel safe,” was a nicely measured request for calm and help from the administration in a trying time for the school and for our entire country. It was t…

This letter to the editor is in response to the recent article published in the Coast Report entitled “The challenges of student parents” written by the Views Editor, Justis Zimmerman.

I am writing this to express my concern with the rampant use of cellphones in cheating and academic dishonesty.
In the Sept. 19 edition of the Coast Report, Christian Ruiz penned an article titled, “Is Authentic Really Authentic?”
Dear Editor,
We recently read Avi Segaloff’s critique of the OCC Shorts showcase at the Newport Beach Film Festival in the article “Films fire up festival,” (May 2) and we’re delighted that he covered the event. However, we were a little surprised by a comment he made about our film: “All of the pieces w…
When I came to OCC 18 years ago I knew I would be taking a big cut in pay. Why did I accept the position? I wanted to work at a community college and how fortunate I was to be able to work at OCC.
“The Crude Truth” by Dean Nothstein is a poorly researched article. Where is the discussion of the effect of financial speculation?
Chris Rashidian must have slept through the first two-hour premiere of the new TV show “Terra Nova.”
I am contacting you for two reasons. First, I would like to share a story about the love and friendship that overcame cancer, a three year war against fear.
There was a car-motorcycle collision Tuesday at about 12:40 p.m. on Merrimac way, near the Early Childhood Lab School entrance to the Merrimac Way Parking Lot. Passersby and pedestrians ran to the scene to aid a motorcyclist who was thrown forward, off his bike, on impact with a silver sedan…
Well here we are at the end of the spring semester 2011, my last semester on campus for a while, which has motivated me to write this letter.
In her April 27 commentary, “Remember Serbia,” Theodora Olic laments that so few people know anything about the Republic of Serbia, formerly part of Yugoslavia.
We are international students who are planning to graduate in May 2012.
I have never written to a newspaper, however, the article published on Feb. 23, “It pays to do bathroom recon,” regarding campus restrooms has compelled me to do so.

Have you ever offered to share your home to a friend who is down on his luck? And, perhaps, provided a space on the couch with sheets, blankets and even a pillow, so that the guest wouldn’t have to lie down on the cold tile floor?

Americans need to wake-up
Thanks for the articles regarding the Associated Students of Orange Coast College’s “ownership” of the campus bookstore and its claims to revenues from Starbucks sales.
Last week’s Coast Report headline was quite the attention grabber. Indeed, a student can erase up to 30 units of Ds and Fs from their GPA. On the surface, this appears wonderful, but there are troubling repercussions.

Proposition 8 would officially change the California Constitution to read “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in the state of California.”
One would think that Christian values entail telling the truth. Being a Unitarian Universalist Christian I know that it is one of mine. Surprisingly, for the conservative religious groups funding the commercials in favor of Proposition 8, which would eliminate the constitutional right of mar…
