The Orange Coast College football team picked up their first win of the season beating Los Angeles Southwest College by an impressive score of 44-29 on Saturday.

Head coach Bubba Gonzalez’s first career win with the Pirates was dominated on offense, totaling 582 yards. Of those 582 yards, 464 of them would come from Coast’s impressive running game, which shattered a record set in 1950.

OCC’s running back duo of Ahmad Lewis and Dadrain Ellis ran all over the Cougars, with both men collecting well over 100 rushing yards, a feat that hadn’t been accomplished by the Pirates in eight years.

Not to be outdone by the offense, the Pirate defense shut down any hopes of a Cougar running game and held off LASC until a late surge in the fourth quarter. Coast took the lead in their first possession of the game and never looked back.
