Women’s Volleyball

The Pirates escaped Golden West College with a five-set victory against their Orange Empire Conference rival on Oct. 8.

After narrowly taking the first set of the game, GWC pulled ahead 2-1. OCC rallied for the next two rounds, and triumphed over the Rustlers in the deciding set.

As a team, the Pirates had 46 kills and made only 21 errors the entire match — compared to the Rustler’s 31.

The Pirates will look to continue their dominant season on Wednesday against Cypress College at 6 p.m. The conference matchup will be settled inside of the OCC gym.

Men’s Water Polo

It is tournament season for the OCC water polo team, which means four games in 48 hours for the Pirates.

On Oct. 8, OCC dropped its first game to Long Beach College 13-9, but rebounded to crush Cerritos College at home 17-11.

The Pirates were much more successful on Oct. 9, holding on to win their Saturday morning game against Grossmont 11-10, and blowing out Rio Hondo 17-7 in the afternoon.

The Men’s Water Polo team will play two games this week, starting with a conference home game against Saddleback College on Wednesday at 3 p.m..

Men’s Soccer

OCC will face Irvine Valley College on Tuesday at 3 p.m. inside Lebard Stadium.

Women’s Soccer

OCC lost to conference-rival Fullerton College 3-1 on Oct. 5.
