Orange Coast College Baseball scored 33 runs in their three-game sweep of Cuesta College this weekend, as softball also went 3-0. Across all OCC programs, the Pirates carried a 16-5 record from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6.
Baseball (5-2)
The Pirates played in a roller coaster of a baseball series against Cuesta College. The three-game set featured 58 runs between both teams, and two of the three Pirates wins were courtesy of comebacks in the eighth inning or later.
In the series conclusion, sophomore two-way player Cameron Mahaffey hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to complete the sweep.
The Pirates will play Palomar College at home on Tuesday with first pitch at 1 p.m.
Softball (4-2)
OCC softball put on a dominant display last week, out-scoring its opponents 26-2 in three games, including a doubleheader sweep against Southwestern College on Feb. 5.
Pirates freshman outfielder Emilie Lapena had six hits, four runs and four RBIs in OCC’s last three games.
The Pirates are winners of three in a row, and will look to extend that streak when they travel to Glendale Community College on Feb. 9.
Beach Volleyball (1-0)
OCC Women’s Volleyball was perfect on Feb. 4, sweeping Rio Hondo College 5-0, not allowing the Roadrunners to win a single set in the matchup.

The Pirates will be back in action on Feb. 11 with an away match against Long Beach City College.
Men’s Volleyball (3-0)
After not dropping a single set in the first two games of the season, the Pirates were forced to a fifth set against Long Beach on Feb. 5, but prevailed at home for a 3-2 victory.
The undefeated Pirates will take their win streak to Santa Barbara City College for a road matchup against the Vaqueros on Tuesday.
Women’s Basketball (14-7, 3-2)
OCC women’s hoops went 3-1 on the week, blowing out El Camino on the road 64-45 Feb. 2, defeating conference rival Fullerton College 58-50 on Feb. 4, but dropping their last game 86-49 at Irvine Valley College.
The Pirates currently sit at third place in the Orange Empire Conference standings, and will look to improve their record on Monday at Fullerton College, tip off at 6 p.m.
Men’s Basketball (4-14, 0-8)
The Pirates are losers of 11 straight in the heart of conference play. OCC’s last win came on Nov. 26, and the last time the team lost by less than 10 points was Dec. 10.
On Feb. 9, the Pirates will play a spectator-less game against conference rival Irvine Valley College.
Women’s Tennis (1-1)
OCC lost to El Camino College 6-3 on Feb. 3, but will have a chance to redeem themselves at the Grossmont College courts on Thursday. First matches begin at 2 p.m.
Men’s Tennis (4-1)
Men’s tennis had three matches last week and won two.
After a 9-0 sweep of Mt. San Jacinto College, OCC was brought back to reality with a tough 7-2 loss at the hands of El Camino College. The Pirates were able to rebound the next day with an 8-1 win over Mt. San Antonio College on Feb. 4.
OCC will play at Bakersfield College on Tuesday. Matches begin at 2 p.m.
