JACC Coast Report

The Orange Coast College student newspaper Coast Report received an Online General Excellence Award for the Southern California Region along with four individual awards at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC) virtual conference on Nov. 7.

The Coast Report staff was one of six junior colleges recognized by the JACC for their online newspaper production. In addition to this award, three editors on staff were recognized for their individual contributions to the newspaper.

Editor in Chief Sarah Guidroz placed first in Editorial for the Feb. 22 article calling for transparency from school officials following two overdoses at The Harbour earlier this year.

Sports Editor Chris Bibona received two third place awards in the Critical Review and Sports Game Story categories.

Views Editor Jordan Noble was awarded third place for his skills in creating Informational Graphics regarding COVID-19.

Following this successful weekend, Coast Report will begin preparing for the spring 2022 JACC State conference to be held in Long Beach in March.
