A new COVID-19 testing site opened on Aug. 26 at the OC Fairgrounds located directly across the street from Orange Coast College at Gate 4 at 1167 Arlington Drive. This is a drive-thru location run by the 360 Clinic in partnership with the Orange County that will be operating from 7 a.m to 3 p.m until October 23.
It is an appointment-based testing site where those seeking testing can register online. Testing is free to anyone who has symptoms, was in close contact to someone with COVID-19 or is an essential worker.
When registering for the test, individuals will be asked a brief questionnaire regarding any possible symptoms, as well as contact history over the last fourteen days. After submitting the questionnaire, individuals enter their email address and are then redirected to the scheduling site. The PCR test is the only test available at this site which is a self-administered nasal swab test that can be completed in less than a minute. Results for the test will be sent to your email within 3-5 days.
Although case infections have decreased in the area, Dr. Tamarra Jones, Division Manager of Public Health Services and OC Health Care Agency, said that the reasoning for opening this location was to increase accessibility for testing in the county. There is a “SuperSite” in Anaheim for geographical coverage, however, “a location in the southern area of the county made sense and the Orange County Fairgrounds had the open space to allow for an effective drive-through location,” Jones said in an email.
