Dear Editor,

I love the background story of the article titled “High School Hate” published in the Coast Report on March 6. It has really opened my eyes and I should say the eyes of many Orange Coast students and Orange County community members.

Though not all have seen the image of discrepancy (swastikas and the Nazi salute), the few who have can now take up the lesson learned so that a difference can be made in the community.

I add that it’s true that it doesn’t really matter if they (Newport Harbor High School students playing a drinking game and giving the salute) thought it was funny. It matters about our relation to Nazism and the conservation of our history. I hope you won’t have to put an image out like that again.

Thank you,

Shabazz-Blue, OCC student
