Orange Coast College’s Mudslingers club will hold its annual Ceramics Holiday Sale for one weekend next month.
The sale, which will feature handmade items ranging from price from $10 through $100, will be in the Art Center room 113 on Dec. 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Parking will be in the Art Center Parking Lot.
Club president Guadalupe Aguirre, 23, a studio arts major, said students work throughout the semester to make items to sell at the annual event.
“The thing I like about ceramics is that while it’s nice to have perfection in your pieces, it’s not necessary — imperfect pieces can still be beautiful,” Aguirre said. “Weird and wobbly, once painted and glazed, it becomes a beautiful work of art.”
Kevin Meyers spearheads the Ceramics department. With over 44 years as a ceramicist and teacher, Meyers helps mold pottery and ceramic enthusiasts in the Mudslingers club.
“The sale is a great way for the students and artists to reach out to the community and learn how to present and sell their work,” Gary Lindman, 66, a club member said.
The sale will include an assortment of pieces including functional cups and mugs, butter dishes, bakeware and bowls of all sizes. There will also be more sculptural work and other creative works.
