Campus Safety officers are looking for a 6-foot-tall, white man in his 20s after a female student on campus reported a sexual battery incident Thursday morning.

An alert to the college community by Campus Safety said the woman was approached from behind by the suspect and he grabbed her buttocks. She was not injured in the incident.

“Outside, I believe the Arts Building, at around 11 a.m. today, a female student was approached by a male and was groped from behind and the suspect ran off,” Juan Gutierrez, the head of public relations for OCC, said.

Campus Safety and the Costa Mesa Police Department are working together in an effort to find the suspect, who reportedly has light brown hair, a light complexion and a slender build. At the time of the incident he was carrying a skateboard, a black backpack, and was wearing a dark color long sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

“When you have something of this nature, obviously we take everything seriously, but when you have something like this, we err on the side of letting people know what’s going on and trying to work things out,” Gutierrez said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Campus Safety at 714-432-5017 or the Costa Mesa Police Department at 714-754-5252.
