Power out in some campus buildings

The power went out in three campus buildings Monday morning, forcing the cancellation of some classes.

Several classes were cancelled in the Social Science building, Student Health Center and the Associated Students Bookstore after a power outage this morning turned off the lights, but some professors chose to continue teaching regardless of lights out.

The bookstore remains open, but is only accepting cash until power is restored.

There’s currently an indication that the source of the outage was caused during the ongoing construction in front of the Social Science building.

As of now though, officials say there is no estimate on when power will be restored to the affected buildings, while they continue to pinpoint why the power failed.

Students were seen gathering outside of their classes in the Social Science building waiting for their instructors, unaware of the incident.

For the classes that do carry on, expect to be in the dark with the only source of light coming from the open doors — or a digital candle in History 180 instructor Brent Rudmann’s case.
