During the COVID-19 crisis, many are bored or need an escape from their houses. Airbnb is providing an online service that allows people to travel the world and try new things and meet new people through what they are calling online experiences, all without ever leaving home. All that is needed is a laptop, internet and no more than $30.

Here are some offbeat selections to take a look at.

"Live Workout and Q&A with an Olympian"

In need of a hardcore workout? How about working out with an Olympic bobsledder? Elfje Willemsen will lead you in a one hour online workout all the way from Kasterlee, Belgium. If you are new to working out, she will talk you through it and modify exercises that are tailored to your level. After the workout, there will be a 30 minute Q&A session where you can ask Willemsen anything about her Olympic journey. The session is $17 a person with a maximum group size of 10 people. The session is hosted in English, Dutch, French and German.

"How to Create a Podcast"

If you want to create a podcast but you don’t know how, Jerry ThompSon III is hosting an experience where you can learn many things like podcast basics and discovering your podcast topics. The maximum group size is three people, which gives the session a more one on one learning experience. ThompSon will inform you on the important software needed as well as the equipment needed to make your podcast sound flawless. ThompSon is the host and producer of Point Nour podcast that is listened to in over 80 countries. The session is $20 a person for one hour.

"It Takes Two to Tango"

During quarantine, staying active and learning new things can be a great way to cure boredom. Perhaps learning a new style of dance is the way to do it. In Barcelona, Ana and her partner Jorge will take you through the art of Tango Argentino. The two professional dancers from Argentina will introduce you to the basic steps and fundamentals of Tango. If you’re 21 or older and want to learn to make gin cocktails, then this is a perfect online experience for you. Samuel is from the United Kingdom and has been trained in cocktail making for years. All the sounds you hear in movies are actually made in a studio. You can learn how they do it in a sound effects experience. This experience is a little more expensive than the others as it costs $40 per person. However, in this one hour session you will explore how Hollywood creates organic sound effects for major movie studios like Disney, Netflix, Sony and Warner Bros. Adam DeCoster, the host, is a four time Emmy-nominated Foley artist in Los Angeles. He has worked on many film and television shows like “Cheers,” “Mr. Robot” and “Orange is the New Black.” In this experience he’ll also take you through a virtual tour of his home studio where he records a lot of his work. DeCoster will also explain the equipment, gear and props that are used in many of his recordings.

"Sangria and Secrets with Drag Queens"

All the way from Lisboa, Portugal, you can learn to make authentic, fresh, and delicious sangria from Drag Queens.
